About Us
In 2024 the Stillwater Community Association handed the management of the Stillwater Hall back to Auckland Council. The Hibiscus and Bays Local Board wanted to keep the hall in community management, so a small group came together to form a new legal entity called The Third Place Community Trust, with the main purpose of keeping the management of the Stillwater Hall within the community of Stillwater.
We are a new organisation, and are registered as a charitable trust and not an incorporated society, so there is no requirement for membership.
It has been a long journey with the formation of our charitable trust, sorting the lease application and transfer and set up of processes. We are now set to move to the next stage and are looking for some new members to join our team!
Purpose - The purpose of the trust is to provide a safe and caring space outside of home and work where the community can come together to share experiences and feel supported. In particular the trust will:
Operate the Stillwater Hall as a central hub to support, connect and celebrate our local community and beyond.
Manage the Stillwater Hall making it accessible to the local community and beyond.
Provide other support and assistance associated with this charitable purpose.
We plan to involve the local community and work with them to help create, manage and support groups that people want to be made available for them, including support groups for mothers, families, elderly, young children, youth and the environment.
The location of the Stillwater Hall is nestled in a small community that is tucked away, so there is naturally a strong sense of community. It is important to note that we do not have funding to run this hall, and the costs are covered by the hall hireage.
A community place away from home and work - a third place, somewhere neutral to relax, have fun, feel supported, be creative, and interact with others.
Welcome to our community hub!
